AVP's sports meet
ITANAGAR, Oct 17: Arunachal Vikas Parishad (AVP)' Papum Pare district unit organized its district (Papum Pare) level sports meet at Rono General Ground, Doimukh today.
More than 200 athletes from various circles of Papum Pare took part in different events like, Volleyball, Track and Field events of which 69 participants were selected to represent the district in the forthcoming state level competition scheduled from November 5 to 9.
Tana Hali Tara, social worker of the area who attended the opening ceremony appreciated the efforts of AVP to identify hidden sports talents by organizing such sports meet. He urged young generation to give equal importance to games and sport with their formal education.
He announced cash awards for those athletes from Papum Pare who will win medals in the forthcoming national level competition scheduled to be held in December at Ranchi, Jharkhand.
Papum Pare DDSE Tana Tagu Tara also spoke in the programme and urged participating youths to focus more on healthy things such as regular physical exercise and games and sports activities which helps oneself to stay away from drug addiction and alcoholism. Rollback SC verdict, says AAPSU as
it issues fresh warning
NEW DELHI, Oct 17: Protest against the Supreme Court order granting citizenship to Chakma and Hajong refugees in Arunachal Pradesh continued today with the All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU) calling for a rollback of the verdict.
Addressing the media at the Press Club of India at the national capital, the committee's chairman Gumjum Haider said for the Chakmas, India is a foreign land but they are fighting Indians with India's help. We may also seek the help of a foreign country if needed, he said adding that "China has always said we do not need visas to enter their country".

Haider argued that the state is a protected area under the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation, 1873 which requires that Indian citizens not from the state acquire inner line permits to enter Arunachal Pradesh. The SC verdict not only directed that citizenship be granted within three months but also that they be exempted from acquiring ILPs.
Haider said if the Chakma and Hajong people are granted tribal status, they will become the fourth largest group in the state.

The former general secretary of the AAPSU, Haider explained briefly the history of the issue and how AAPSU has been fighting for the cause of the state. He warned that this decision can have a great impact on the state economically, socially and politically.
However, he said that the people will treat them well as they are our guests but now they are challenging the owners of the house they are staying in.
One of the primary fears fuelling the agitation is that their permanent settlement will result in major demographic changes.
AAPSU President, Kamta Lapung said that the Indian government had taken land from the state on lease without making any payment but now enough is enough.
Demanding that they be deported from the state, Lapung said that indigenous communities were being treated as second class citizens".
Lapung also added that the state's MPs are incapable of safeguarding the state's interests and should resign if they cannot act and remain silent on the issue.
AAPSU general secretary Biru Nasi said that "the verdict has shocked us all and that we have been backstabbed". Nasi said that the people of Arunachal cannot accommodate them because of their criminal tendencies and cited incidences of rapes and killings committed by the Chakma people in the past. He also said that Chakmas have formed an underground organisation called the Arunachal Pradesh Deprived People's Front, five of whom were arrested by the state police in April.
He also added that the order has been passed without waiting for the Joint High Power Committee formed by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs to make its recommendations.
Nasi also informed that in some places the refugee population has overtaken the local indigenous tribes.
Nasi warned that the agitation against the settlement of Chakmas and Hajongs in the state may become violent if the Supreme Court feels we are not Indians.

The decision has drawn opposition from all quarters of the state and the state government has decided to challenge the order. ITANAGAR, Oct 17: The People's Party of Arunachal (PPA) took strong exception to the absence of senior political leaders of the state, including the three Parliamentarians, during the rally organized by All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union (AAPSU) in protest against the Supreme Court (SC) verdict directing the State Government to grant citizenship and settlement rights to the Chakma and Hajong refugees.
Hailing the protest rally as positive beginning in the battle against the refugee issue, PPA in a press release stated that absence of senior state leaders representing national political parties during the rally was very unfortunate and highly disappointing.
"Since this issue can only be solved through sincere political dialogues with the active involvement of the Central Government, the active participation of all the three Parliamentarians representing the state in Delhi is very important. They can't just be silent spectators to this great historical tragedy" the party said.
The party also said that all the members of parliaments from the state should be made members of the Core Committee constituted by AAPSU to spearhead the movement against the refugees.
"We just can't leave this sensitive movement in the hands of the student community alone," the party said.
"Every Arunachalee should feel that this refugee problem is their own problem and everybody must come out openly in support of this cause," the party added.

Failing to comply with the order will lead to suspension of their trading licences, the DM cautioned. ANYA bandh call politically motivated: NES
ITANAGAR, Oct 17: Condemning the bandh call given by the All Nyishi Youth Association (ANYA) on 19th Oct, the Nyishi Elite Society (NES) has termed it politically motivated as it appealed to the citizens of the Capital Complex to defy the bandh call.
Stating that ANYA has called the bandh at the behest of political masters, NES stated that the person or party behind the scene instigating ANYA will be held fully responsible for any untoward incident if any, during the proposed bandh call. The community should not be blamed for such immature activities, added the NES in a release.
Further NES stated that none of the issue raised by ANYA is related to Nyishi community except the Kamle and Pakke Kessang districts issue.
The district issue has already been taken up with the Govt by NES and district demand committees and is under active consideration of the Govt, it said.
Adding that NES is the parental body as per the bye law and by social recognition but the president and general secretary of the ANYA did not bother to consult NES and ANYA's district units before going to the press declaring bandh call, claimed NES. Therefore, the proposed bandh call is politically motivated and sponsored, it is not in the interest of the community or the state, it added.
NES warned of initiating social action against the incumbent members of ANYA in due course of time.
Tirap administration reaches out to the people
ITANAGAR, Oct 17: Tirap district administration in close coordination with other government departments organised an administrative outreach camp on today at Old Tupi village with an objective to take administration to the doorsteps of the people and enable the villagers to avail all facilities without going to Khonsa thereby wasting their valuable time and money.
The administrative outreach camp was attended by about 700 villagers from 10 villages. The camp which was initiated by Tirap district Deputy Commissioner Ravi Jha was a huge success in terms of reaching out to the people.

The DD (ICDS) and her staff created awareness on different schemes implemented by the department. The department of civil supplies conducted awareness on national food security while the department of Environment and Forest issued about 900 saplings of ornamental, fruit and medicinal plants.
However, most of the villagers thronged the Jansuvidha counter which issued 272 ST certificates, 197 PRCs during the camp.
The Health department organised a medical camp wherein 270 patients were screened and distributed free medicines. The department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry distributed poultry feeds and medicines to the villagers and created awareness on rearing of animals and birds.
The Chief of Old Tupi, Newang Lowang thanked Deputy Commissioner for the outreach camp describing it as historic for the villagers of Ranglamja and Dadan area. Earlier, the DC, while replying to the memorandum submitted by the villagers, assured to look into the grievances on priority. (DIPRO)

ITANAGAR, Oct 17: The State Level Role Play & Folk Dance competition on Population Education was organised at Bharat Scouts & Guides, State Headquarters Naharlagun on Friday.
Ten teams from different districts of the state participated in the competitions. In the Role Play competition on Adolescence Education, the participants of Govt. Hr. Secondary School, Doimukh, Papum Pare through their lively and meaningful performance was adjudged as the winner while Govt. H.S. School, Changlang and Govt. Town Secondary School, Khonsa, Tirap District were adjudged as the second and third prize winners respectively.
In the Folk Dance Competition on Population Education, Govt. Sec. School, Kapu, Tirap district, was adjudged as the winner team while KGBV, Palin, Kra Daadi District and KGBV, Pangin, Siang District won the second and third prize respectively.
The first winning teams of both the competitions will be participating in the regional level competitions scheduled to be conducted by the NCERT in the month of December 2015.
Earlier, addressing the participants, Secondary Education Deputy Director, Mallo Yam Gollo appreciated the performance of the young students and urged them to disseminate the message to their classmates and friends in their respective districts. She also expressed her happiness over the fact that more and more girl students are participating in such events and lauded their efforts. Such type of competitions among the students will not only preserve and promote our traditional culture but will also go a long way in disseminating the contents on Population and Adolescence Education to the target groups, she said.

Issue of changing the nomenclature

I am not in favour of the process which involves changing of nomenclatures; it may
be of identity, ethnicity, and name of a person or for that matter changing the name
of a Social Institution called the Formal Academic institution -
Before we go to the details of my propositions, let's try to understand the issue of change of names.
People change their names for a variety of reasons such as divorce, marriage or an
unpleasant-
If you have a well-
Marriage and divorce are among the most common reasons people change their names, and with good reason. Sharing the same name as your spouse may help you feel more like a unit. However, changing your name to a different last name from your children may cause them some stress. Some women find themselves feeling resentful they give up their names in marriage but their spouses did not.
Men are, in increasing numbers, opting to change their last names to their wives' last names when they get married. This is often a statement about the importance of egalitarianism and problematic nature of gender roles, but may cause strong criticism from friends and colleagues. Other people opt to change their names to reflect a new religious or ethnic identity. This can help people form unity and solidarity with a new community, but can also create some confusion around your identity.
Some names are a recipe for teasing and bullying, and many people opt to change these names when they enter adulthood. Other people may change their names to convey a message. For example, a woman might change her name to "Peace Love." These name changes carry the same benefits and drawbacks of other name changes and you should consider whether the new identity is worth the potential loss of a good reputation that went with the old identity. Some people, however, change their names after a major life change and these people may welcome the opportunity to abandon their old identities.
There are some legal considerations to take into account when changing your name. You may have difficulty accessing bank records under your old name so make sure you take your name change paperwork with you to the bank and other financial institutions and change your name with these companies. A name change will not get you out of a contract, but may require you to provide documentation of the name change if you ever need to enforce the terms of the contract. Name changes also do not get you out of legal trouble or help you evade prosecution. A name change does not give you a new identity or clean record and attempting a name change to avoid prosecution may because you further legal trouble.
The very first step of changing the name from AU to RGU was a blunder which was carried out by some unmindful past leaders including the politicians, the social workers of the area, the student bodies, and not leaving aside the boot lickers of the then government at the centre.
My contention is; let's not further commit a blunder one more time by changing the name of our premier and the lone Central University.
What are the justifications in initiating the step of changing the name? Are these bases sufficient enough to cater to the needs of the very step of constant and repeated process of changing the name of our University?
We are into the 30th year of our University ship and we are recognised World-
We stand at 158th Rank out of 524 Universities in India, as per the 2014-
Now if our Great minds have thought or so to have realised the essence of changing back the name to AU, if at all the time is inevitable for changing the nomenclature of our university, kindly initiate to change the name to ethnic flavour which belongs to us.
If at all the notion of the name makes us feel left out when our university is called RGU, remember Arunachal is not an indigenous and ethnic word either.
It is also to be taken into consideration that RGU nomenclature was taken up leaving
aside AU, a name given by the union government in remembrance of Indira Gandhi, former
Prime Minister of the country, when Rajiv Gandhi was in power. Later it was changed
to RGU because of so called emotional links of Arunachal with the Gandhi family
but for that matter what Rajiv Gandhi as young leader did in his short span of political
statesmanship in India is laudable. Let's not forget Rajiv Gandhi made our country
realise the pulse of the concepts like Globalisation and Liberalisation, developing
India into IT hub-
Otherwise if the blunder is to be committed once again or if at all we have realised to go on with the time and space of the society, we can go for changing the name to say... chairmanship of All Pakke-
The school lands will be protected from any kind of encroachment at any cost and nobody would be allowed to encroach an inch of the school land, the meeting resolved.
The meeting also defined the naturally demarcated boundary of the school and entrusted APPDSSU to prepare a map.

ANSU general secretary Nyanya Gollo, who was also present in the meeting, urged people of Pakke Kessang to protect the land meant for the school. He urged all the encroachers to surrender school lands they are occupying voluntarily and at the earliest.

Responding to the call of the meeting, two persons, who were holding plots of school land each, have voluntarily surrendered their occupied land before the meeting.
